JAKARTA – PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) has claimed to have plans for the development and management of Great Soedirman Airport in Purbalingga, Central Java. For the development of the airport, the company will pour about Rp320 billion, which starts in early 2018 until 2019.

President Director of AP II Muhammad Awaluddin said the company plans to develop the runway from the existing 850 m x 50 m to 2,000 m x 45 m and the construction of a 2,000 m2 airplane passenger terminal to accommodate Boeing 737 or Bombardier flights and serve about 200,000 passengers per year.

“We already have a number of development plans to maximize the potential of Great General Soedirman Airport to play a role in the progress of Central Java province,” he said in an official statement on Friday (17/11/2017).

As a first step, Angkasa Pura II together with a number of parties have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to the management and development of Great General Soedirman Airport in Purbalingga, Central Java.

The signing of the MoU was conducted by AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, Purbalingga Tasdi District Government Regent, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, represented by Assistant Logistics Marshal Yadi Husyadi, and AirNav Indonesia President Director Novie Riyanto.

Awaluddin said the company welcomes the implementation of the MoU among stakeholders at Wirasaba Airport. Through the MoU, interested parties will conduct more detailed discussion related to the management and development of Wirasaba Airport by AP II. Currently, the TNI is the power of the user of the state property or the owner of the land.

The MoU is claimed to be the first step for all parties to work together to bring civil aviation at General Soedirman Airport so as to support the economy, trade and tourism and expand air connectivity for people in Central Java Province especially Purbalingga Regency and surrounding areas.

Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo admitted very pleased with the initial step to develop the Airport General Soedirman.

“We are very grateful to all parties for the signing of this MoU, we hope this is the first step of our commitment to make General Soedirman Airport as one of the factors or trigger to increase economic growth and tourism in Central Java region,” he added.
