    Denpasar  – Sea transport passengers from Bali to various destinations in Indonesia as many as 216,699 people during October 2017, decreased 27,985 people or 11.44 percent over the previous month recorded 244,684 passengers.

    “But for freight transport increased by 1,348 tons or 9.23 percent from 14,611 tons in September 2017 to 15,959 tons in October 2017,” said Head of Distribution Statistics of Bali Central Bureau of Statistics I Gede Nyoman Subadri in Denpasar, Monday.

    He said the departure of special passengers through the Port of Benoa, Denpasar during October 2017 as many as 85,930 people, an increase of 10,083 people or 24.72 percent compared to September 2017 which serves 75,857 passengers.

    But compared to the same month the previous year also increased 17,033 people or 24.72 percent, because in October 2016 served 68,987 passengers.

    While a number of other ports outside the port of Benoa serve as many as 130,769 passengers during October 2017, it slumped by 38,058 or 22.54 percent compared to September 2017, serving up to 168,827 passengers.

    The passenger service compared to the same month in the previous year increased by 8,405 people or 6.87 percent as October 2016 port outside Benoa served 122,364 passengers.

    I Gede Nyoman Subadri explained that while the transportation of goods served by the Port of Benoa during October 2017 of 1,047 tons declined 1,551 tons or 59.70 percent, because in September 2017 it served 2,598 tons.

    While compared to the same month the previous year also slumped 743 tons or 41.51 percent, as October 2016 serves the freight of 1,790 tons of goods.

    The port outside of Benoa serving freight transport during October 2017 as much as 14,912 tons increased 2,899 tons or 24.14 percent compared to September 2017 which handled 12,013 tons.

    Compared to the same month in the previous year an increase of 12,983 tons or 673 percent, because in September 2017 only handle 1929 tons.

    Bali has five seaports comprising the port of Gilimanuk (western Bali) linking to Ketapang Harbor, Banyuwangi, East Java, and Padangbai Port (east Bali) linking with Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

    In addition, the Port of Benoa, Denpasar which serves for passenger ports to various destinations in eastern Indonesia, in addition to tourist ports and fishing ports.

    Similarly Celukan Bawang Port in Buleleng regency, north Bali which serves as a port of freight transport, beside Nusa Penida Port, which is special to serve local crossing in Bali.

    Benoa Harbor, Denpasar also as the entrance of foreign tourists by using cruise ships, said I Gede Nyoman Subadri explained.
