TANGERANG – PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk recorded cargo growth of 9.6% to US $ 170.8 million during the year to September 2017.

Director of Cargo PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Sigit Muhartono said this year is a good year for cargo filling. The high e-commerce market boosts cargo revenue.

Therefore, Garuda Cargo is also very expansive in expanding the cargo service center network (CSC) or cargo service center across Indonesia to make the service not only port to port, but port to door.

“The next CSC in Kebon Jeruk is no more, because the concept of this CSC can be a door to door as well,” said Sigit at Aerofoof Catering Services office in Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday (25/10/2017).

One of the company’s main competitors is Lion Parcel owned Lion Air Group. However, Sigit is optimistic that Garuda Cargo’s market share will not decrease due to the growing number of e-commerce markets.

In addition to the Revenues Management System Enhancement program, the company also recorded an increase in ancillary revenues by 19% to US $ 53.9 million from early January 2017 to September 2017.

Freight cargo of Garuda Indonesia also rose 8.1 percent to 104,700 tons in the third quarter of this year from 96,900 tons in the same period, the third quarter of last year.

Year to date, Garuda Cargo transported 342,100 tons during January to September this year. This volume increased 9.8% from the same period from January to September last year of 295,200 tons.
