• Goods Check Tariff at Airport Rise? This Appkindo Explanation

JAKARTA – The cargo inspection agency at the airport wants to raise the inspection tariff on goods.

Chairman of the Association of Cargo and Pos Indonesia Security Inspection Company (Appkindo) Andrianto Soedjarwo said the increase is reasonable because they have to invest in the procurement of new x-ray machines.

The procurement responded to the Minister of Transportation Decree No. 53 of 2017 released last month. In PM 53 article 43 paragraph 3 point a mentioned, the regulated agent serving international cargo and postal inspection shall have at least one multi-view x-ray machine and one single view engine.

“If the single view is only one side only, if the dual view is more clear, Penetrasinya can be up to 32 millimeters,” he told Bisnis on Thursday (10/08/2017).

Andrianto explained, the increase in cost is reasonable given the price of masin x-ray latest technology is quite expensive. The price range is between Rp4,5 billion-Rp6,6 billion.

Although expensive, but he ensures cargo security will be more secure because the goods checked in more detail and penetration more deeply.

About the amount of price increase, Appkindo is still calculating because it depends on business calculations with service users. However, Andrianto asserted, x-ray machine cost components is the greatest consideration.

Currently the average checking rate is Rp800 per kilogram. In this new regulation, the lower tariff limit of Rp550 is also eliminated.
