• First Semester 2017, Flow Loading and Unloading Container of Import Export of TPS Tanjung War Up 1 Percent

The loading and unloading of imported container containers through the Surabaya Petikemas Terminal (TPS) at Tanjung Perak Port increased one percent during the first half of 2017, or the period from January to June 2017.

TPS spokesperson M Solech said in a press statement in Surabaya on Sunday (June 09, 2017) that the total realization during January-June 2017 was 637,410 TEUs or an increase of one percent compared to the same period in 2016 of 631,238 TEUs.

“The increase exceeds the imported container loading and unloading productivity target of 595,135 twentyfoot equivalent units (TEUs),” he said.

He said the average container of imported exports served in TPS each month in 2017 reaches 100,000 to 120,000 TEUs.

“We are optimistic that in the second half will be able to increase market and growth of container volume of imported exports,” he said, as reported by deliknews.com.

Solech is grateful that it can exceed the set management target in the first semester of 2017, although at the beginning of the year there was the installation of three new Container Crane (CC) units, which resulted in the emptying of one of the container places.

“Previously we installed the three largest new CCs at Tanjung Perak Port, so we are also confident of pursuing and exceeding the target in the second semester,” he said.

He explained that to achieve the target until June 2017, from 8 existing CC units, 6 CC units of which have been powered by electricity. Previously, the six units were driven by diesel generators, so it is expected to accelerate performance.

“Currently we are still running for two units of CC number 3 and 2, our target is September 2017 all the CCs at TPS International Pier are completed and operate with electricity, supporting the performance of 3 new CC units,” he said.

He explained, by changing the mechanical system to the electric motor, expected to be operational performance to be better, efficient and environmentally friendly.

“Another positive impact is that the work environment is not noisy, cleaner and more comfortable,” he said.

Meanwhile, the flow of ship visits in TPS during the period of January-June 2017 as many as 484 units or up 4 percent from the same period last year 466 units.

“For the import ship visit every month in TPS the average reaches 100 to 120 units,” he said.
