• European Market Lose, Bali Furniture and Handicraft Exports Come Down

    DENPASAR – Entrepreneur of Furniture and Handicraft Industry in Bali admitted that exports of goods abroad are currently declining following the sluggishness of the European market.

    Vice Chairman of Marketing of the Association of Indonesian Furniture and Handicraft Industry (Himki) Bali Krisna Pratama Astawa said 70% of entrepreneurs on the Island of Gods send their goods to the European Market.

    Thus, when the European market is sluggish then also impact on the decline in craft shipments to these countries.

    In fact, according to him, the decline in exports to Europe reached 50% of normal shipments.

    “For example the usual 1 buyer’s order 6 containers with me, currently only 3 or half,” he said, Thursday (7/12/2017).

    According to him, the decline in exports has nothing to do with the quality because the ordering of goods is still done to date. Believed the quality of handicrafts in Bali is still guaranteed.

    “If the quality is not baseball, the evidence he still order,” sebutnya.

    He said, entrepreneurs in Bali is difficult to find a market other than the European region. So far, selling goods to Europe is considered easier because of prospective buyers or buyers who are more familiar and cheaper cost.

    In addition, entrepreneurs in Bali are much more familiar with the European Market than other regions so that when doing the exhibition and hook the buyer much easier.

    “The exhibition to Europe is right on target, it used to be an exhibition in the United States but less satisfactory because it is not right on target,” he said.

    Meanwhile, according to BPS data, the marketing of various handicrafts made from wood and home furnishings from Bali to overseas decreased by 7.31% and 11.49% respectively in October 2017 compared to the same period last year.
