• E-commerce & Exports Improved Enhanced Warehouse Rental Increase

    JAKARTA – Demand for rental of warehouses began to increase as the proliferation of e-commerce business and rising export activity.

    Chairman of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI) Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi said the increasing demand comes from e-commerce marketplace that requires a warehouse.

    “Export activities are also [increasing demand], while imports are not directly delivered to buyers or users,” he told Bisnis on Wednesday (02/08/2017).

    Warehouses are needed because exports with the purpose of some countries require consolidation. Plus time delivery of goods also depends on the wishes of the buyer.

    In addition, warehouse leasing from the air freight service industry also increased. The cause is an increasing warehouse function. Besides as a place to store stock, warehouse also serves as a place to weigh and packaging.

    Based on the results of ALFI research, the market share of the contract logistic sector or the provision of logistics services which includes warehousing increased in the last 4 years.

    Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of this sector reached 11.7% starting from 2013. Among all countries in Southeast Asia, Indonesia is the most rapid growth.
