• Dwelling Time, Package Service Should Be Launched

VIVA.co.id – The Indonesian National Shipowners Association (INSA) has asked the government to prioritize the smoothness of container loading and unloading services at the port as a basis for the evaluation of the national logistics system.

By prioritizing the smoothness of container loader services, the waiting time or dwelling time will be reduced according to government targets.

Carmelita Hartoto, Chairman of the Indonesian National Shipowners Association (INSA), explained that it supports the government’s efforts to evaluate port services, which aim to reduce logistics costs.

“We as a port service user support government efforts, because the priority is the smoothness of container loading and unloading services,” said Carmelito in his statement on Tuesday, September 26, 2017.

According to him, the evaluation will include improving port services, cost cutting, and acceleration of loading and unloading activities. INSA is also studying the government’s proposal in this case the Ministry of Transportation that will require port loading and unloading work seven days a week.

“So far the loading and unloading service at the port is still okay, including the contingency effort during the PT JICT union strike action. The transfer to other ports should also be appreciated, “he said.

As is known, in the event of strike SP JICT, container bongkat packing services diverted to New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT1), Koja Container Terminal (TPK) Koja, Terminal 3 Port of Tanjung Priok, and Mustika Alam Lestari Terminal (MAL). “Our concern that there is no conflict and bongkat load service smoothly, that should be prioritized,” he said.

A similar assessment was previously submitted by the Chairman of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI) Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi. He considered the main concern of logistics and forwarder entrepreneurs is the smoothness of container services at the Port of Tanjung Priok.

“The concerns of various parties about the impact of strikes that will disrupt the process of loading and unloading containers and affect the flow of export-import does not occur. Since the beginning of August until now, the loading and unloading process at the container terminal at Tanjung Priok Port runs smoothly. It must be maintained, “Yukki said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi stated that his party has ordered the Tanjung Priok Port Authority and Syahbandar Port Tanjung Priok to complete JICT crisis following JICT workers strike in early August 2017.
