• ALFI: We are Ready to Be Active in One Belt One Road Initiative

JAKARTA – Secretary General of Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI) Akbar Djohan said that ALFI is ready to take an active role in international logistics to welcome the One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative.

It was submitted when signing a memorandum of understanding between the ASEAN Federation of Forwarders Associations (AFFA) and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) under the authority of GuangXi Provincial Government of China on April 27, 2018.

He said the memorandum of understanding is an effort to realize Asean and Asia-Europe connectivity within the framework of OBOR.

OBOR is China’s major project to connect the land-based logistics and trade routes from China to Europe and Asia including Asean. On the occasion of the signing, ALFI is an Asean representative (AFFA).

“ALFI is ready to make Indonesia the front in anticipating the development of international logistics. At this forum (signer of the Memorandum of Understanding) ALFI takes part in OBOR, not a spectator, “Akbar said through an official statement on Thursday (3/5/2018).

He said connectivity within the OBOR framework is not just infrastructure development but needs to be accompanied by adequate e-connectivity and human resource capacity.

“Of course also the interstate connectivity initiative in this case OBOR, is aimed at lowering the cost of more efficient logistics,” he said.

While the AFFA Executive Director who was present at the event in GuangXi, Iman Gandi said the same thing. Asean particularly Indonesia should contribute actively to the OBOR initiative.

AFFA Chairman Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi said that his side immediately followed up the memorandum of understanding in order to be realized in the form of concrete cooperation.

Besides ALFI, as the AFFA representative when signing the Memorandum of Understanding with CCPIT is also present Singapore Logistics Association (SLA), Malaysia Logistics Federation (FMFF), and Singapore Business Federation (SBF).
