• Airport Silangit Airport Expansion Spends Rp350 Billion

    President Joko Widodo prepared to enter Heli Super Puma after inaugurating Silangit International Airport Terminal in Siborong-Borong, North Tapanuli, North Sumatra, Friday (24/11/2017).

    SIBORONG-BORONG – PT Angkasa Pura II estimates that the funds needed to expand Silangit International Airport terminal reach Rp350 billion.

    President Joko Widodo requested the expansion of the Silangit International Airport terminal from 3,000 m2 to 10,000 m2.

    President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin said that his company as an airport business entity will realize the instructions of the Head of State.

    “For an additional terminal area [needs] around Rp350 billion, that’s a big enough figure,” Awaluddin said after the inauguration of Silangit International Airport in North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra, on Friday (24/11/2017).

    According to him, the addition of airport terminal can increase the capacity of visitors who come by air. Residents of North Sumatra, particularly North Tapanuli and Lake Toba areas, will benefit from the accessibility of tourists made easier.

    It claimed to have done a lot of development, because the original design of the airport is actually for domestic flights. Revitalization more intensively conducted after the government set Lake Toba as one of the priority tourist destinations.

    He explained that the investment is expected to break even point (BEP) for 5 to 7 years. However, the condition of the airport must meet the amount of 1 million traffic per year. “So, be creative looking for new destinations.”
