Meteorologists Warn of Potential for High Winds and High Waves in Bali Until March 25th from Tropical Cyclone Marcus

As reported by Australian meteorologists on Tuesday, March 20th, Tropical cyclone “Marcus,” positioned in the ocean south of Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB), continues moving to the northwest.

As reported by Balipost.com, Indonesian meteorologist Kadek Setiawati has warned that the cyclone will affect Bali’s weather in the coming days creating a potential for strong winds and large waves on the Island’s southern shores.

The chance of strong winds will persist until around Thursday with the threat of large waves until Sunday or Monday (25-26 March).

“If the tropical cyclone turns causing a slowing in air flow, Bali will experience heavy rains. But, if the no turn in the cyclone’s current course occurs, then there will no rains, but strong winds and large waves will result,” said Setiawati.

The Indonesia weather forecaster said cyclones are generally caused by high ocean water temperatures above 26 degrees Celsius, convection of sea water, and winds that help form a cyclonic pattern. When these three factor combine, tropical cyclones can be produced. Tropical Cyclone Marcus recently formed off the shore of Northern Australia, moving west and is now located south of NTB
