Nearly 3.5 Million Visited Bali’s Iconic Tanah Lot in 2017

(1/7/2018)The iconic tourist attraction of Tanah Lot in Tabanan, West Bali managed to record a 3,497,825 million tourist visitors in 2017, a slight decrease of 0.78% when compared to the 3.525.335 recorded in 2016.

As reported by Balipost.com, the manager of Tanah Lot, I Ketut Toya Adnyana, revealed that during the last week of 2017 daily visitors to Tanah lot averaged between 13,000 and 14,000 – a marked improvement over the comparatively lackluster daily average of between 4,000 and 5,000 visitors calculated after the closure of the Bali Airport since late November.

Demonstrating the impact of the Mount Agung volcano on visitor flows is the major change in the composition of domestic and international visitors.  Prior to the eruption of Mount Agung, the mix between foreign and domestic visitors was 50:50. However, in recent weeks, the market mix has shifted to 70% domestic visitors.

Despite the lingering threat of Mount Agung, Tanah Lot operators remain optimistic that a target of at least 3 million tourists will visit the seaside temple in 2018.
