• Bali Safe: Denpasar Tourism Office Socializes SOP Facing Mount Agung Eruption

    Safe Mountain Mount Radius Lowered To 6 Km

    Denpasar – Tourism Department of Denpasar, Bali, together with tourism actors continue to socialize and publicize to standard operational procedures (SOP) to face the eruption of Mount Agung.

    “We are together with ‘Bali Tourism Hospitality (BTH)’ currently finalizing SOP for disaster mitigation during Ngurah Rai Airport closure due to volcanic activity of Gunung Agung,” said Denpasar Head of Tourism Agency Maria Antonia Dezire Mulyani on Thursday .

    Dezire said it cooperates with the Regional Tourism Promotion Board (BPPD) has signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoU) so that tourists who are in Denpasar when the airport is closed still get maximum service.

    “It’s like giving a lodging facility for one night for free, and giving the lowest price applicable when tourists want to extend their visit in Bali when the airport closes,” he said.

    In addition to lodging, said Dezire, Denpasar City Government in collaboration with the Transportation Society of Bali (Pawiba) also provides free transportation services to the nearest airport. Like Lombok International Airport in West Nusa Tenggara Province, Banyuwangi Airport and Juanda Airport in East Java and Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta.

    “Later, to get to the airport outside Bali, tourists will be collected at Hotel Inna Grand Bali Beach to further together to the nearest destination,” he said.

    Desire added, currently the danger zone of Mount Agung is only located in a radius of six kilometers (km) to 10 km, so the city of Denpasar is still quite safe for tourists to travel.

    “For tourists who are in the city of Denpasar do not need to panic if there is a possibility worst against the activities of Mount Agung, and local government is ready to provide the best service to tourists,” he said. (WDY)
