• American tourist visits to Bali on the rise

More and more Americans are starting to visit Bali, according to data collected by the province’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

Bali, whose tourism sector is dominated by visits from Australians, Chinese, and Indians, has not been an exceedingly common destination for Americans, but the tides seem to be changing.

Foreign arrivals from the United States used to rank number nine as the most frequent visitors to Bali, but now Americans have moved to the number six spot, says head of BPS Bali, Adi Nugroho.

“US citizens visiting Bali have surpassed visitors from South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Germany,” Nugroho announced on Wednesday.

As many as 98,669 Americans have visited Bali so far this year, a whopping increase of 18.02 compared to the same period last year, says Nugroho.

While Nugroho didn’t apparently cite former US president Barack Obama’s holiday to Bali in June this year as a reason for the up-spike, we have to believe the Obama family trip has in the very least increased awareness amongst Americans of Bali. Not to mention a vacation just a month after by Chrissy Teigen and hubby John Legend
