    Grand Aston to Morph to Hotel Nikko Bali in April 2018


    Hotel Okura Co. Ltd reports that it has entered into an agreement with PT Karya Tehnik Hotelindo to assume the management of the Grand Aston Bali Resort commencing in April 2018 when it is expected to be rebranded as the Hotel Nikko Bali.

    The beach front hotel located on Tanjung Benoa near Nusa Dua, is a 30-minute drive from Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport via the Mandara Toll Road.

    Marcel P. van Aelst, the CEO of Okura Nikko Hotel Management said: “It will be a great pleasure to introduce the only hotel managed by a Japanese enterprise in the beach resort area of Bali, under the Nikko brand. Hotel Nikko Bali will provide visitors with the comfort and reassurance of the Nikko brand’s unique Japanese-style hospitality.”

    Corals replanted in Indonesia’s Gili Nanggu to try and repair damage from blast fishing

    Thousands of corals have been replanted in the waters of Indonesia’s Gili Nanggu, where blast fishing has taken a toll on reefs.

    The Maritime and Fishery Ministry`s Marine and Coastal Resources Management Agency (BPSPL) has been partnering with locals to replant corals since 2013 in Gili Nanggu, an official stated on Sunday.

    Gili Nanggu is a small idyllic island off the west coast of Bali’s neighboring island, Lombok that although is off the beaten track, is starting to grow in popularity with traveler’s exploring out past Bali.

    But the island’s beautiful corals have taken a hit from fishermen using bombs aka blast fishing to access the area’s abundant groupers and snappers.
